Liverpool midfielder Lewis Koumas wants greater first-team minutes under recently appointed manager Andoni Iraola. His preseason opportunity comes after Iraola’s first match in charge saw Liverpool overcome Sunderland by 4-2 in Nashville. Sunderland, recently beaten by Liverpool, now appears as a strong loan option for Koumas. The emerging joined Sunderland’s Nashville base this week but may face tough competition for playing time from other homegrown players. Iraola took over on July 24, 2026, with Koumas one of several academy talents pushing for bigger involvement in the first team.
