Russia claims that its two-seat Su-57 jet will fly with onboard combat AI. Russia named this new twin-seat model the Su-57D. Engineers developed the plane to challenge Western fifth-generation fighters. However, the Russian fleet of Su-57 jets is still limited.

In contrast, a small European country currently operates twice as many fifth-generation fighters as Russia. The disparity in stealth jets exists despite Russian efforts to install combat AI technology into the Su-57D.
