Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has withdrawn a death warrant for William Lee Thompson, 74, who was convicted of murder in Miami-Dade County. It is the first time DeSantis has pulled back an execution order. A second execution was still scheduled for Tuesday.
The move came days after a botched lethal injection involving Christa Pike brought new questions over Florida's execution process. The governor provided no statement for cancelling the order for Thompson in particular.
