Stargazers can now spot the earliest Perseid meteors ahead of the main event. The display peaks in middle of August next year. Early sightings will be tricky, however. The shining moon now washes out dim trails. Aim for darker hours near the core. The best views come from dark sky spots far from urban glow. Clear nights could show up to a full hundred an hour at the busiest time.
