An backyard astronomer using Google Maps came across a big rounded depression in northern Quebec. Staff at Quebec’s geological survey verified it is a colossal meteorite impact crater dating back 390 million years near Lake Mistassini. The terrain feature mirrors other confirmed craters and points to a cataclysmic long-ago blow. Satellite images were mapped against field data to substantiate the discovery.
