Latest News About Illegal fishing arrests, an award, a fine and salmon ban

Nine crew members from China were arrested in connection with illegal fishing in waters near Yeonpyeong Island.

Coast guard officers earned a special award for their work. They had forced out illegal Chinese crab boats nearby.

In a separate incident, a prawn fisher from West Vancouver was fined $5,000. The fine was issued because he dropped traps near glass sponge reefs.

Regulators confirmed there will be no fishing for coho salmon in Lake Washington. The closure applies to anglers on that water body.

The Wuchang fish industry is expanding its reach too.
