Quarterly update prior to financial reporting - Equinor

North Sea Projects at Risk as Equinor Issues UK Investment Warning

Equinor has flagged that the United Kingdom risks becoming "uninvestable" if North Sea projects Jackdaw and Rosebank are blocked. The Norwegian energy company's chief executive raised doubts about whether future investment in the UK could continue if drilling approvals are denied, catching the eye of the BBC, The Times, and the Financial Times.

The warning puts pressure on UK energy policy at a time when the government is weighing up the future of North Sea development. Blocking the two projects, Equinor made clear, would create real uncertainty about the country's openness to large-scale energy investment.

Separately, Equinor issued a quarterly update on 7 October 2026 saying its trading profit will come in above expectations for the third quarter. Reuters covered the announcement ahead of the company's planned earnings release.
